Why convert Picture to text?

You may have come across a scenario where you've captured a picture on your phone or camera that you later need to copy out. You may have looked at the picture and carefully jotted down the text or typed out the information to be shared with others in an application, document, or spreadsheet. Simply put, picture-to-text technology does what it says on the metaphorical tin - it allows you to convert a picture into digital, editable text. This works by uploading your picture to a tool that uses optical character recognition (OCR) software - a technology that analyzes and scans your file, recognises the characters within it, and extracts the text. Provided your original picture file has sufficient resolution and the text is clear enough for the tool to scan the file successfully, the output file provides you with plain text that you can then export to be used in other contexts, such as in documents, spreadsheets, finance applications, or presentation software.
